EDAFE OKPORO
for New York city council District 7
I went from being homeless to running NYC’s first shelter for asylum-seekers to working on the largest refugee resettlement project in US history. Now, I’m running to bring accountability to City Hall and to fight to make our city affordable.
Outside interest groups have seen the power of our grassroots movement and have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to buy this election. My values are informed by my lived experiences—not by special interests—and you can trust me to fight for bold change and responsive governance.
I will be an independent voice for upper Manhattan, fighting against the political establishment to make sure that housing is truly affordable, that our streets are safe, and that everyone can afford to retire with dignity.
